To me, it’s all a matter of perception. I don’t search for happiness. Happiness is a by-product of living life well. Instead of looking at decisions as good or bad, right or wrong, I try to see it vertically. Am I making the highest choice?

Focusing on each moment of life and how I want to act in the world (instead of react) helps me not to be outcome oriented. There will be enough changes in mood, situation and involvement to keep me busy without the undesired attachment that fear of unhappiness holds.

Life begins to feel cleaner and clearer. Without that extra weight of attachments, there is a wonderful sense of freedom.

When I lived overseas, I had to carry my things with me all the time. I learned very quickly that I didn’t need many of the items that I thought I couldn’t live without. Once I made that discovery, I lightened my load considerably and it made my life very simple and easy.

I think that it is the same process mentally, spiritually and emotionally. Consider what you carry with you in all aspects of your life. Can you let the ones go that do not benefit you? Can you begin to focus on each moment, learn to make the highest choices and live life well?

To fulfill what we each came here to do is paramount. Stay on the path and you will gain wisdom and understanding. You will also be an excellent example to others.
